Sounds familiar? Probably the answer is yes. But if I ask you if you think that the new system is really going to change people's behavior, so I hope you answer no. Or, at least, only partially. For intranet is only part of the picture.
The point has been obvious to us through various lyfe kitchen projects and was recently brought to a head in a business where we make a SharePoint lift. So far, only some departments had SharePoint and collaboration. Now everyone can get it, to prevent the documents sent by e-mail. As part of the understanding phase, we asked the existing SharePoint users how to share documents. 68% of respondents answered 'e-mail'.
When we asked about the causes, we found, among other things: 'Do not know if the recipient visits the SharePoint Portal', 'Is lyfe kitchen not used to using the system', lyfe kitchen 'Does it exist but have not been trained' and 'E-mail is still easiest for me '.
The survey was an eye opener for us, and we later had a discussion about collaboration solutions and cultural / organizational change. In the current project includes our job now efforts to turn old habits. In many ways this is outside our mission of providing interaction system. But at the same time not. Taking this type of challenge can be difficult. But in dealing with intranet and collaboration solutions are necessary. The truth is the fact that a new intranet only solves part of the problem. And there is a real risk of failure for those who only look at the system and not take action on the items around.
