In 1765 the archbishop of Tarragona Juan Lario Lancis and ordered the completion of a tracing plates that were to commemorate the construction of the new chapel dedicated to Santa Tecla in the Cathedral of Tarragona. Cartoonists were Josep Prat Tramulles Francisco, and were commissioned recorded Pasqual Pere Moles and Francesc Boix. The plates are representing the "Triumph of St. Tecla," an allegory that includes references to the hagiography of the saint, the arrival of the relics in 1323 and the devotion of Tarragona custom cabinets by their employer.
Between 1765 and 1766 were held in the cathedral of Tarragona tracing four plates designed to commemorate the construction of the new chapel custom cabinets of Santa Tecla. Two are preserved in the Diocesan Museum of Tarragona. The first drawing Josep Prat Francesc Boix and recorded between 1765 and 1766 has the inventory number MDT-3641. The second drawing custom cabinets Tramulles Francis and recorded in 1765 by Pasqual Pere Moles has the inventory number MDT-3336. The two others, similar theme but lower quality, preserved in the Chapter Archive, a drawing of Francis Tramulles and recorded by Francesc Boix (1765) and a second anonymous.
Although we find several examples of prints made from the original plates. [1] In 1992, to mark the ninth anniversary of the restoration of the Cathedral Metropolitana and the repopulation of Field and Tarragona, held several events, including the exhibition "pallium", [2] the where the two plates were kept in the Diocesan Museum of Tarragona. The event and bearing the reissue prints from the original plates tracing, which was conducted on paper GUARRO a reissue limited to 50 copies for each plate, numbered 01 to 50, printed custom cabinets in the workshop of James Coscolla Bonet and Jordi Sánchez Rodríguez in Barcelona.
Although the series of prints known as "Glorification of St. Tecla," is actually several versions of "victory" or "apotheosis" composition which glorified a saint representing him closer to heaven where it is received by the divine presence or some other sacred custom cabinets character, while at the bottom raises the corresponding earthly scene. Representation is also close to the "glory" that developed in Baroque painting with a strong sense theatrical staging. [3]
